I have returned, slightly more radioactive than before. I was overseas for 10 days, my lens broke on the way there, but a bit of super glue and patience, 7gb and 1575 photos to go through. Updates will probably be slow, hope to get a few up a day.

Chernobyl was awesome. Please see my LJ for the full story: [link]

Well it was 13 months between going to shoot anything, but here we go...new shots from the Ward Pumping Station in Buffalo NY.

So to make up for this whole year of not taking any photographs, I am planning a trip past the Iron Curtain - specifically Ukraine, with a 3 day trip to Chernobyl, Latvia and Estonia. I am soooo excited!

I really can't believe it's already the middle of July and I have yet to go anywhere to shoot. I am bored with the locations in my area and I haven't gone on vacation anywhere yet.

I am doing a 365 photo project, completely boring and uninspiring, but it can be found on flickr: [link]

is it me or is DA unbearably slow when using firefox? it seems the ads freeze it up terribly for me, and i can't stand it. no problems using IE, but it'll be annoying to use 2 diff browsers, one just for DA...

i also hope future versions of DA have a better method for finding "mood" and smilies...

Trent released another new NIN record - The Slip - through nin.com today. Almost 2 months after the last one. Seriously trent...we're used to 5 years between albums. It was shocking enough that Year Zero followed 2 years after With Teeth, but now 2 months?!? thank you :) :)

Trent Reznor released his new record tonight on nin.com

5 ways to download/purchase.

2 hours, all instrumental.

I came on DA today and 12 messages...that's odd. That usually only happens when I upload new work. Turns out I had 2 pieces (the theatre [link] and lost [link] featured in this news article: [link]

THANK YOU!

New series - A Night At The Terminal. After a failed exploration attempt, friends and I had 300 tea lights and nothing to do with them. So off to Buffalo Central Terminal we went, and voila. We were there for about 4 hours setting up and shooting. It gave the place a great feel. These images are the first I've taken in the Terminal for at least 2 years. I'm there so much, the place almost lost it's beauty to me, but now I remember again :)

Prints are available at [link]

i haven't been out shooting since the beginning of august. i've really grown bored with the places around here, and i've found nothing new that is at all interesting and worth the associated risk involved in what i do. i think to find anything that interests me i need to travel out of the area, which is virtually impossible for me right now because i have no vacation time, no sick time, and work is not giving any weekend days off at the moment. september was also the busy month at Buffalo Central Terminal so all my days off were used up doing things for our events, meetings, schmoozing with potential developers etc.  and seeing alice cooper.

i guess i'm in a rut. oh well. there are some places i want to return to once the snow starts flying. hopefully sooner rather than later this year. and hopefully some snow for the outdoor NHL game on new years day (so excited!!!!)

A friend spent a week with me recently which meant lots of locations - 6 I think. One of them was a place I hadn't been since early 2004 (when it was -5 out.) Though I didn't see the entire place because of the cold, immediately upon walking in this time I noticed how much it had fallen apart...cement ceilings collapsed, etc. I also realized that it is nearly all natural decay - no stupid tags or elaborate grafitti, no clear cut human damage. It was nice to be in a place like that.

Will be uploading more from the week as I slowly process them...

I'm so aggravated.

Because some idiots decided to think they are satan worshipers and sacrifice a cat and iguana inside the building we were going to use for the Art Is Resistance Renegade Art Show. Wanting nothing to do with those fuckers, we've decided to cancel/postpone the show indefinitely.

Neighborhood kids discovered a circle of toilets, mirrors, black and purple candles, and dolls with the stomachs cut out set up in the building. They also found a skinned cat wrapped in a blanket. Went back the next day with parents and they found a skinned iguana with it's belly cut open.

Fantastic. Why are people completely retarded?

I know all this because the building is down the street from Buffalo Central Terminal, and the neighbor who told us wasn't sure if we owned the "sacrifice" building as well (we don't THANK GOD). Cops have been called and all that...

I was excited about showing my work again....*sigh*

Art is Resistance Renegade Art Show 2007

This not your every day art show. It isn't being held in your every day art gallery.

We are now taking submissions of art for the Art is Resistance Renegade Art Show to open July 28th in an abandoned building in Buffalo, NY. The location will not be made public until a week before the show. Artists and other participants will be notified when work is submitted. Submissions will be divided into 2 main categories: general and resistance/activism.

Some things you should know first:
- The inspiration for this show came from the "World of Year Zero" created by Trent Reznor to support nine inch nails' new album "Year Zero", and specifically from the associated website artisresistance.com.
- We are NOT nine inch nails. We are NOT associated with nine inch nails in any way. This is NOT part of the Year Zero ARG. We are just fans who were inspired to contribute in a small way to the idea of the ARG.
- This show will open on a specific day in July and run until the art is stolen or ruined. I repeat, the art is to remain up indefinitely. Please keep reading if you are interested in participating but not willing to let your work remain in the building.
- The show will take place in a long abandoned building, which creates a very unique atmosphere in comparison to boring stale galleries of established art spaces. The building is not overly dangerous, however anyone planning to attend the show enters the building at their own risk. We are not responsible for any injury that may occur, please visit, but please use caution. The building will have no electricity and no water – keep this in mind if your piece requires either.
- Due to nature of the location the organizers wish to remain anonymous at this point in time.
- The show is free, there is no submission fee, and we are not selling any of the works. All expenses are out of pocket, and because of this, we are not able to return any work unless self addressed stamped packaging is included.

Submissions
We are looking for submissions of art of any and all forms – photography, painting, drawing, computer generated graphics/art, sculpture, site related installations, performance art, dance, music, etc. As stated above, the building will have no electricity or water, please keep this in mind if your work requires either. We are hoping to collect an eclectic mixture of work.
Because of the nature of the space we will be unable to hang work that is in large heavy frames. We are asking that work be sent matted only. Mattes can be purchased at local stores like Target and Walmart, and craft stores like Michaels and AC Moore.
We would like only reproductions to be included in the show, as ideally the work is to remain up indefinitely. Photographic prints, professional reproductions, even photocopies, will all be accepted. IF YOU WISH TO SUBMIT ORIGINAL WORK AND/OR REQUIRE ITS RETURN please include self addressed stamped packaging with a description of the piece so we can return it to you. If you are a local artist you can deliver and retrieve your work at any time.

Categories
- Resistance/Activism: In the theme of artisresistance.com and the Year Zero ARG submissions in this category should address some sort of political, environmental, pro/anti-war, pro/anti-globalization etc theme. Do you have a cause? We'll take it. Fighting an oppressor? We'll take it. Against the government? We'll take it. Use your imagination, it's a very broad and loose category. In this category we will also accept art relating directly to artisresistance.com and Year Zero – however we are looking for creative pieces and not just "fan art".
- General: You don't create political art? Cool neither do we. Anything that does not fit into the resistance/activism category goes here.

Submitting work
Please fill out and return the form below through postal mail, myspace [link], or email renegadeshow07@gmail.com before the show. We would like to have an idea about how much work we should expect. Your work can remain anonymous if you like, or you can provide contact details, web addresses etc on the back of the piece. Work and forms should be sent to:

Art is Resistance PO Box 1330 North Tonawanda, NY 14120 USA

If you are a "local" artist you can choose to deliver and hang the work yourself on the date of the opening, or you can send it to us through USPS. If you do not want your work to hang indefinitely you can retrieve it at any time. Please let us know your intent to participate even if you plan on hanging your own work.

If you are a national/international artist who cannot attend please send the work through postal mail.

Any plans for a performance piece or site specific installation please contact us for details of the show location, and let us know your intent to participate.

As stated above, if you require your work to be returned please include self addressed stamped packaging and a description of your work so we can return it to you.

We will accept submissions until we leave our houses to set up the day of the opening.

IMPORTANT: Again, we must stress that work will not be returned unless self addressed stamped packaging is included. Work will remain up for viewing until it is retrieved, stolen, or destroyed. We cannot be responsible for reimbursement or replacement of lost, stolen, or damaged items and the exhibit is not insured.
